as evidenced by my photo post below, Picasa/Hello doesnt let you edit your text--i accidentally hit return, and poof... it was posted. please excuse the typos.

anyways, weekend was good but exhausting. Saturday nite we did make it out to the Sun Valley Fireman's Ball, which thanks to my new friend Nikki (red head in the photo), was muy entertaining. we both were made fun of by Sun Valley-ites--she for her hair (which is tough to see in the photo, but her rocker-mullet is auspiciously similar to mine), and me for my fur coat. but it was all just insatnt karma as we perched on a balcony to heckle the Idaho types as they got down to a really bad band in their turtleneck-and-sweater ensembles and sequined halter tops... good times. it sounds silly, but it was so nice to have a SoCal-ite here to sympathize with my situation--she was in awe and i was having a great time saying "see!?! see what i have to deal with!?!?" she's the wife of our new surf team manager--i wish they came up more often as they're both a kick in the pants.

the photo is from post-Ball, we headed to Whiskey's for late nite... shortly after that was taken, Cory flipped Ben backwards over the bar onto the floor. he's still limping today.

other than that, slept off a hangover yesterday, did packing/unpacking/laundry, and went to see the Motorcycle Diaries, which i highly recommend. one of the best movies i've seen in forever. very inspiring... this week is going to be busy/hectic, am looking forward to this weekend to see Canada and hang with a boy. werd.

i havent been a very good blogger as of late. the work situation has accosted all of my time and the majority of my energy... i think things will work out for the best, but, my time schedule has been completely thrown out of whack. AKA i'm stuck here in the ID for longer than i planned, unless things go completely awry and i prematurely jump ship. if everything shakes out like i'm being promised i will have loads more responsibilty (and more to do), and i am going to lobby hard for a raise as my work load has almost doubled.

there's also been some crazy politics going down internally, thankfully of which i have not been involved in. the worst of which was two of my co-workers, whom also are two of my closest friends, both were up for the same job. of course, only one of them got it, and i am thrilled for him, but know what a dissapointment it was to the other. on top of that, another co-worker, whom i have a great relationship with, is now my boss. which isnt a bad thing, but its going to be weird to have him as the one i push for raises, etc... just awkward, at first especially.

i am actually at work right now because of the over-whelming amount of crap we have to get done in the next few weeks, and i'm not the only one here from my department at the momnet. we are all haggard and strung out. we went out last night to cut loose together, which was fun, but i should have paid better attention to my surly mood and split early--drunk and volataile at around 11pm, i shoved a guy in the face and jumped on him for shooting me and others repeatedly with a squirt gun. i snapped, and it wasnt pretty. i'm a mostly unflappable person (i'd like to think) for the most part, but circumstances conspired last night just perfectly enough for me to make a crazy ass of myself. i can see the local paper headline next week--"enraged local girl assaults man with squirtgun in bar brawl." sweet.

anyways, better get to work. have to be social again tonite, new surf team manger in town to entertain, hopefully i can keep myself under wraps in front of the new guy....

xo,
.liz

so. i met a woman on the plane last night. she was interesting, she does PR for bottled water from one of the purest springs on the planet. and we chatted about that for a while. then i noticed that she was missing part of her right index finger. then, shortly thereafter, she mentioned that it was bit off by a hyena. i shit you not. i think that could possibly be the coolest thing i've ever heard. really. the angle that that gives you on your whole life is absolutely fascinating to me. i mean (at least in North America), how many people can use that as their claim to fame? maybe she was lying. but i still think its cool.

other than that, Hawaii was relaxing, Portland was great as always. my brief stint at home was rather stressful, other than my visit to the Salon for a new rock star haircut. i was in four westen states in ten days, eight airports, lotsa planes, buses, rental cars. need some time to recoup before heading North for a Very Canadian Thanksgiving, but the kids are already talking about a weekend expedition to Targhee....

heeh.

this week is crazy. not only are we still in limbo work-wise, but yesterday i had to drop the hammer (aka FIRE) on our external PR firm (sweet), and then we heard that the entire staff of one of our key mags that we've advertised in for years and with whom we're very close to, got the plug pulled entirely. no more, just vapored off the face of the earth. so weird.

but, i voted today. which is weird as well. i'm kind of nervous, kind of confident that this thing is going to go the way i'm hoping. i guess its not worth stressing over, all i can do is wait and see...

ugh, craziness.

so. there's been a major shake up at work. my boss is resigning/retiring. which in itself isnt all that surprising, he's been here for 19 years and is definitely ready to move on. what's scary is that we are losing our protector, the person who can stand up against the other heads of state around here and defend what we are doing. and the reason that that is especially scary is that the other person who may end up being our boss, is in no way shape or form a fit leader for our department. so, things are sketchy, apparently we're having a talk with our president tomorrow, but i'm pretty damn skeptical about what he's going to say.... he is the type that is easily swung in any direction the wind blows, and i've seen him making some decisions lately that i dont feel heed well for the long-term life of our brand....

the upside, is that if things work out well, i will have more power, more responsibility and basically will be one of the main directors of our brand image. but, i'm nervous that things arent going to happen as i hope... this could get ugly.
