hmmm. i guess its been a while. two months to be exact. what have i been doing for the last two months? well, not a lot unfortunately. i guess here's a short list of what i have actually done.

- went to Mex for 10 days.
- thought i wanted to open a boutique here in SD.
- after research and soul-search, decided not such a good idea
- went to San Francisco for a few days
- upon one-too-many non-responses on the job search, decided to go back to school (how original!)

yeah, so i'm falling into that oh-so-easy "i don't know what to do with my life it must be time to go back to school" trap. hmm. have applied already, am waiting to hear back. also am pursuing a few extremely low paying jobs to at least get my ass moving.

as much as i do feel guilty/am freaking out about it, i am justifying my return to school and another 3-4 years of living hand-to-mouth by the fact that i do feel i need to make a definitive move that will enable me to pursue a long-term career. i am honestly a little worried about the current state of action sports--i see the whole industry headed for a big wall, and right quick. i may be wrong, but i do have really strong gut instincts on this stuff, and i believe that the supply of radical has outgrown the demand... i may be kicking myself two years down the road, but i really do think i'm right on this one. all the big companies have acquired any of the small ones worth acquiring, and the remaining small guys don't have the momentum to make it. the big guys (Quik, Billabong, Hurley, now Vcom) will be stuck battling it out in Garts and Macys, and its not going to be pretty... the only channel i think that is healthy and moving upward is ski. and i mean "ski", not including snowboard. again, you think i'm a kook, but believe it...

but, for all my woe-is-me-ing, it is good to be home. still. we're heading out to the desert this weekend for my big 3-0 bash. i was hoping people would fly from all corners of the earth to attend, but unfortunately that's not so much the case. however, we will be having an intimate rager in true Desert-style with my sisters (sans Alex of course) and a handful of my nearest and dearest friends, staying at a classy hotel and enjoying the surroundings.

so, that's that i guess. out.
